On 25 October 2022, at a meeting of its General Assembly, the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) elected two new Vice Presidents. One of them was Jana Haasová, representing the ERO. She will thus capitalise on her extensive professional experience in the EU environment while the Czech Republic will have a strong mandate in discussion on the future of the common European energy policy on an international platform.

Established in 2000, CEER is a voluntary professional association based in Brussels. CEER acts as a platform for cooperation, information exchange and assistance between Europe’s national energy regulators and is their interface at EU and international level. CEER currently comprises 30 Members (member states) and 9 Observers (non-member states).

“The community of the European energy regulators has always championed consumers very strongly and in the current energy crisis, our activity and help must be channelled primarily to them. It is very important that in the discussions in the EU, all resources are used for finding the right measures and that national regulators’ opinions are not ignored. We can regard these aspects as a challenge for sharing our expertise effectively. Amongst regulators, processes should be put in place, based on the experience acquired from earlier crises, which will reflect the current situation as best as possible and help national regulators keep abreast of the current trends,” Jana Haasová, a new CEER Vice President, comments on her election.
